Our Blog

At Good Shepherd Community, we believe that staying active is a vital part of Senior Living in Little Rock. If we can walk, we have a powerful tool at our disposal. Walking has long-since been the exercise of choice among all ages, but it is particularly good for seniors because it is gentle, beneficial exercise that can be performed anywhere – even indoors.

Walking has a positive impact on our physical, psychological, and social well-being.  Simply put, walking helps us feel good in our body, minds, and spirits – three of the basic principles that our community is built upon. Walking can help with a variety of physical conditions, but some of the simple helps include stronger bones and improved balance.  It can even help reduce muscular and joint stiffness.

It is generally recommended that you dress according to the weather, stay hydrated, and wear shoes with the proper support. Our campus has ample shade as well as a variety of places to sit and rest as needed. Being consistent with any exercise is the key to building stamina.
