Activities at Good Shepherd’s Independent Living Community

At Good Shepherd Community, our senior independent living complex offers countless opportunities for residents to socialize, stay active, and engage with their neighbors the moment they open their apartment doors. Our dedicated Activities Department makes it easy for seniors throughout our campus to experience meaningful fellowship in a welcoming environment.

On-Campus Social Activities

All of our scheduled activities are designed to support our residents’ emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Whether you prefer a group activity or a casual chat over morning coffee, there is always a place for you here. A colorful monthly calendar keeps residents up to date on times and locations for all of our games, parties, and special events. Popular on-site activities include:

• Fitness: Fun exercise classes tailored specifically for senior mobility and social interaction.
• Annual Health Fair: With various vendors and wellness lectures.
• Games & Socializing: Card tables, puzzle areas, and cozy seating areas for friendly visits and casual encounters.
• Entertainment & Enrichment: Movie matinees, guest lectures, book clubs, and vibrant holiday parties.
• Spiritual Fellowship: Hymn singing, chapel services, communion, and quiet spaces for reflection.

Fisher’s Lake and Bishopsgate Park

Outdoor spaces at Good Shepherd are an extension of our vibrant community. Fisher’s Lake offers a serene escape right on campus.

• Stroll along the secure campus boardwalk with a walking buddy.
• Spend a relaxing afternoon fishing or enjoying the views at Fisher’s Lake.
• Relax on a shaded bench along the boardwalk or nestled in our memorial garden.
• Residents can tend to vegetables or flowers in our community garden.

Whether you are walking, fishing, or just sitting and relaxing, our outdoor spaces offer the perfect backdrop.

Our campus is always buzzing with activity and we love sharing it all through our monthly newsletter, “Good Tidings.” Each month residents receive a printed copy of our newsletter highlighting the recent events of our community. Group Outings & Community Excursions

Independent living doesn’t stop at our campus borders. The Good Shepherd Activities Department coordinates regular group transportation in our community van for exciting local excursions, including:

• Guided visits to local Little Rock museums and cultural sites.
• Scheduled shopping trips to nearby stores and markets.
• Our annual Travelers’ Senior Day baseball game
• Fun social outings, like trips to local ice cream shops or maybe a ceramic shop.

These outings make it easy to stay connected to the broader local area while enjoying the safety and camaraderie of a group.

Life is good at Good Shepherd Community, where chance encounters and cups of coffee can easily blossom into lifelong friendships.
