ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding full-time job serving people who are a pleasure to be around? Good Shepherd Community is searching for a full-time Activities Assistant who is an always-smiling, dedicated, enthusiastic, creative, and giving individual to collaborate and coordinate with the other members of our Good Shepherd Activities team. This employee will facilitate existing programs and develop new programs for our community of seniors. Responsibilities can include anything from leading chair exercises, facilitating games and crafts, driving or accompanying residents on group excursions, preparing flyers and calendars on the computer, to helping with seasonal decorations and parties. All programs will promote the health, wellness, safety and happiness of our residents.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • The ability to build rapport with our residents through an upbeat, compassionate, calm, and caring demeanor;
  • The ability to work well with others on a team, as well as the ability to work individually with minimal supervision;
  • A self-starter, who sees what needs to be done and gets to work;
  • Organizational and time-management skills;
  • Computer proficiency Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook (Desktop publishing is a plus);
  • Ability to climb stairs and walk from building to building on our campus as well as throughout or buildings for the distribution of newsletters, calendars, or for other materials or purposes;
  • Ability to assist with indoor and outdoor decorations and to set up and tear down for events;
  • Ability to lead chair exercise classes;
  • Ability to drive residents as needed in our community’s van.

The work environment for this position varies from an office setting, to walking throughout our various buildings, as well as walking from building to building, stairclimbing, and facilitating occasional outdoor activities. A love of outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, is a plus.

The schedule for this position is FULL-TIME Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm. BENEFITS: Paid Time Off (PTO), 9 paid holidays, Health, Dental, Vision, and Life insurances as well as Federal Credit Union available. Pay rate: $15/hour

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Good Shepherd Community provides housing to senior residents. We need an assistant who can provide administrative support to a managerial office as well as provide general support to residents and visitors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Clerical duties (answering phone, photocopying, faxing, filing, emailing, sort mail, order supplies, and other tasks associated with office procedures); Coordinate repairs to office equipment; Report work orders to maintenance department via computer; Monitor resident check-ins, emergency calls, and camera systems to ensure the well-being of our residents which often includes in-person follow up; Provide tours of the building and apartments as the need arises; Distribute printed materials to residents and throughout the building as needed, and other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:  Proven work experience as an administrative assistant or similar role; Great customer service; Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines, copiers, and printers); Proficient computer and typing skills and should be especially proficient in Word; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; High school degree or equivalent.

This position involves sitting, however, follow-ups, deliveries, dispersal of printed materials, and other tasks require an ample amount of walking and can involve the use of stairs. This employee must be willing to work within our organization where needed.

DIETARY AIDE

Good Shepherd Community is looking for an exceptional candidate to serve as a dietary aide to a great group of senior residents. This employee will perform:

General kitchen and dining room tasks including dining room set up, daily meal service, clean-up, storage of food when deliveries are received, meal prep, and other duties as requested by the supervisor.  This position will also serve as back up dishwasher in a rotation with other staff backup dishwasher, when the dishwasher is absent, including all duties pertaining to the dishwasher position.

Professional conduct and a friendly personality are a must, especially when interacting with our residents, their families, visitors, and other staff. Dietary/serving experience is a plus. Requires weekend work.

This position is full-time and the schedule is 6 days per week; 5 days are approximately 7:00AM-2PM, and Saturday is 6-10AM. The employee receives one weekday off and alternates one weekend per month off, as the schedule rotation allows.

Pre-employment drug screen and criminal records check must be passed prior to employment.

Housekeeper (floating)

Good Shepherd Community is looking for a floating housekeeper who would enjoy working in a clean, well-maintained senior retirement community.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Readying apartments to be leased by cleaning and restoring to move-in-ready condition; Serving as a back-up housekeeper on an as-needed basis to clean resident apartments; Notify building managers of necessary repairs; and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires the ability to perform a variety of cleaning activities using typical cleaning equipment including basic housekeeping duties, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, windows and scouring bathroom and some light maintenance; Great customer service skills to be performed with professionalism; and Adaptability as you move from one type of cleaning job to another, which may include a change in location/building on our campus.

This position is a safety-sensitive position for the purposes of the medical marijuana amendment.

Position is full-time, hours are M-F, 7-3 or 8-4, pay rate is $12.50/hour.

HVAC Maintenance Technician

Good Shepherd Community is searching for an HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our facilities maintenance crew:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must have current EPA certification; Previous experience in HVAC maintenance, refrigeration, and other maintenance-related fields; Possess strong troubleshooting skills, particularly on 5-ton A/C units or less; Must be able to maintain and repair condensing units and perform air handler change-outs;
  • Ability to handle the physical workload to complete the responsibilities the job requires; Experience with multi-family housing maintenance is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent Customer Service; Must be deadlined and detail-oriented; Must have the ability to access and use mobile facilities app (cell phone and training provided).

Responsibilities:

  • Complete work orders in a timely fashion; Estimate time and extent of repairs; Perform routine and specialized (HVAC) maintenance; Maintain materials and supply inventory.
  • Serve as a back-up driver to transport senior residents to and from; appointments as needed and as directed by the supervisor. (The Maintenance Superintendent will also assign other duties for this position as needed).

The work schedule is M-F, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. plus on-call duties in rotation approximately every 4th or 5th week. $55.000/year.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN/BACK UP DRIVER

Good Shepherd is searching for a dependable individual to serve as a Maintenance Technician and Back-up Driver in our senior retirement community.

This individual must possess experience in a variety of maintenance skills and be capable of performing repairs on a wide variety of equipment which can include—electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and other systems and subsystems operated by Good Shepherd. You will be responsible for completing work orders and other required tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion / Estimate time and extent of repairS / Perform routine preventive maintenance;
  • Assist with maintaining material and inventory supply / Oversee work performed by outside contractors as necessary; and
  • Serve as a back-up driver to transport senior residents to and from; appointments as needed and as directed by the supervisor. (The Maintenance Superintendent will also assign other duties for this position as needed).

Qualifications:

  • Previous verifiable experience in maintenance or other related fields / Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment;
  • Ability to handle the physical workload required by this position / Deadline and detail-oriented;
  • A clean driving record; and Exemplary customer service skills.

The work schedule is M-F, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. plus on-call duties in rotation approximately every 4th or 5th week. Pay rate: $17.00/hour. Job Type: Full-time
