Are all living spaces the same?
Our residences are quite varied by size, floorplan, and budget. Please see a full description on the Housing and Amenities page
Are pets allowed?
In most cases, pets are allowed, but a pet deposit is required. Please see a full description on the Housing and Amenities page.
Are there age restrictions to live at Good Shepherd?
Each facility is a little different; for example, the minimum age to reside at The Cottages is 55, other residential facility options are designed for those age 62 or older. There may be some exceptions, made on an individual basis.
Are there opportunities for socializing with other residents?
Whether it’s dining together, a museum visit, or walking with a friend, Good Shepherd residents have many opportunities to socialize with one another in both organized and informal ways. Our activities department offers many organized social opportunities throughout the year that may include games, art and craft work, cultural outings, and holiday celebrations all in support of our residents’ emotional, mental, physical and spiritual health.
Can family/friends stay overnight?
Yes, for a limited time and with prior notification to management. Some specifics for overnight guests may vary from building to building.
Is Good Shepherd a nonprofit or a for-profit enterprise?
Good Shepherd is owned and operated by four business entities: Ecumenical Retirement Center Inc., a 501(c)3 Arkansas nonprofit corporation; ERC Foundation Inc., a 501(c)3 Arkansas nonprofit corporation; the Cottages of Good Shepherd Phase I, L.P. and Cottages of Good Shepherd Phase II, L.P., both of which are Arkansas for-profit limited partnerships. Good Shepherd operates with a “business mind” and a “mission heart” and is designed to invest all retained earnings into the Good Shepherd Community for the benefit of its residents, thereby assuring quality and affordable housing.
What sorts of safeguards are in place?
The Good Shepherd campus uses a keyless entry system and has cameras located at all our facilities, as well as on-site professional security service that is present after business hours. In addition, Good Shepherd provides all residents access to a wireless Nurse Call system with wearable electronic pendants that allow residents to signal for emergency assistance 24 hours a day. Little Rock police and fire stations are located nearby on Kanis Road.
