MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN with DRIVING

Good Shepherd Community is searching for a maintenance technician to join our maintenance team serving senior residents in a 500-apartment facility. This individual must possess experience in a variety of maintenance skills and be capable of performing repairs on a wide variety of appliances and mechanical systems which can include—light electrical & mechanical repairs, plumbing, and other systems operated by Good Shepherd. This position will serve as a driver to transport our senior residents to and from shopping, two times per week, or as directed by the supervisor, after completing our required safety training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform maintenance work from service requests promptly and professionally;
  • Assist with maintaining parts, tools, and inventory;
  • Safely transport residents to and from their regularly scheduled shopping excursions in our 13-passenger van 2 times per week or as directed by the supervisor (wheelchair lift experience is a plus);
  • Oversee work performed by outside contractors, as needed;
  • Perform week-long on-call duty for emergencies every 4-5 weeks in rotation with other team members. (Employee should be able to arrive at Good Shepherd within 30 minutes for these emergencies);
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform facilities maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of appliances and mechanical systems;
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
  • Non-emergency passenger transport preferred;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Experience in working with elderly persons and/or individuals with disabilities preferred (wheelchair lift experience is a plus).
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Good Shepherd employees must exercise good judgment and show flexibility when there are changes to routine or emergencies arising during their workday. All duties are to be carried out with kindness and in a professional manner.

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on-call for emergencies on rotation with other techs.

RELIEF COOK

Good Shepherd Community is searching for an assistant chef/relief cook to prepare breakfast and lunch meals for our senior retirees each week. This position will serve as the relief cook during the lead cook’s days off. Maintaining a safe and clean working environment for employees and for the residents is a must.

  • Must be skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking an extensive range of foods, including breakfasts, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts.
  • Must have knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
  • Must cultivate a team-work environment, be self-motivated, and organized.
  • Our Assistant Chef/Relief Cook must have great customer service and communication skills and be committed to quality service.

The position is full-time and is a day shift, 6 AM to 2 PM. Must be available to work weekdays and weekends. This employee must be flexible and be willing to serve in any one of our three neighboring kitchens. Pay rate: $14.50/hour.
